From your first assessment to better-matched games.

Six steps turn your playing experience and confirmed results into a more useful sport-specific rating.

01

Choose your sport

Choose the sport you want to start with and complete its nine-question skill assessment.

02

Get a starting rating

Wildcard gives you a separate starting rating for each sport, with room to learn from real results.

03

Find your next game

Find, create or join a suitable match or tournament in the community.

04

Play singles or doubles

Organize the game, meet on court and play in the format that suits you.

05

Confirm the result together

One side submits the score. The other can confirm or correct it; silence confirms after 24 hours.

06

Make the next match better

Confirmed results update your rating and history, helping Wildcard suggest more suitable future matches.

A rating that learns from real results.

Each sport has its own Glicko-2 rating. The assessment sets a starting point with high uncertainty; confirmed results make it more informative over time.

What is my skill rating?
It is your current Glicko-2 rating for one sport. Your nine-question assessment seeds it, and confirmed match results refine it over time.
Can I play without affecting my rating?
You can take part in social events without changing your rating. Preferences such as casual or practice describe what you are looking for, not whether a match is rated: a confirmed win or loss still updates your sport rating. Invalid outcomes such as walkovers, no-shows, forfeits and retirements do not.
Which results affect my rating?
A confirmed final win or loss updates the rating for that sport. Ties, walkovers, no-shows, forfeits and retirements remain in match history but do not affect it.
How does Glicko-2 update my rating?
It considers the players’ current ratings and the uncertainty around them. Each confirmed result becomes new evidence about your level.
Do singles and doubles use different ratings?
No. You have one rating per sport, shared across singles and doubles. The calculation accounts for the match format.

Maria, founder of Wildcard
“I came to tennis later, without an athletic background. On paper, I didn’t belong in the draw. But someone gave me a Wildcard.”

Players invited me into tournaments anyway. What stayed with me was not perfect tennis, but playing and laughing together, meeting new people and hitting until the sun went down.

That is why Wildcard combines a trustworthy Glicko-2 rating with a real local community. Better-matched games matter, but so do the people who make you want to return to the court.

After the match, we stay for a coffee, a tournament discussion or a Grand Slam final watched together. And that’s the spirit behind Wildcard: every one of us holds one.
